P.E. and Sport Development
Physical Education is strength of the school. We employ
two Sports Coaches who are fully trained in teaching the
Primary Curriculum for Physical Education.
The children
are taught 2 hours of P.E. each week and also have the
opportunity to stay after school to attend clubs
organised and delivered by E.S.A.
All Extended
after school clubs organised by E.S.A. have to be paid
for.
Mr. Jon Coowar, one of our
Sports Coaches
.
As part of
the Thomas of Canterbury Partnership we link closely
with Thomas Becket Secondary School and the three other
Primary Schools in Northampton, engaging in competitive
sports. We
take our children to Unity College which is a short
distance away, to use their swimming facilities. Our
target is that all children should be able to swim 25
metres by the time they leave our Primary School.
KS2 children
take part in local sporting events as and when
opportunities arise. So far we have been very successful
competing in ‘Tag Rugby’ organised by
Northampton
Saints. We have also benefited from our involvement with
Northampton Town’s Football in the Community.
We engaged
the children in a sponsored timed football shoot that
raised funds for the school for new sports equipment.
