Anglo/French
'Kingswood' Interaction
In February 2002 we were a
pilot school in a new venture when we visited
‘Kingswood’ on the Isle of Wight. Prior to our visit we
had developed links with two schools in France who we
have been communicating with via e-mail. Using the
‘Kingswood Learning Grid’, the children from our own
school and in the two French schools have been working
on tasks developed to match the QCA Scheme of Work for
ICT. The outcomes of the tasks set have been shared
using communication skills developed through ICT.

During our weekend stay at
‘Kingswood’ the children had the opportunity to meet
their French counterparts for the first time. They
sampled French food, attended a Disco and a games
evening as well as having the opportunity to experience
go-carts, rock climbing, archery, a treasure hunt, aero-
ball and laser quest.
They also took part in
‘Computer Clubs’ where they were involved in a variety
of ICT activities including designing web sites.
Staff and children had a
wonderful time and we hope to continue the links we have
made with our colleagues and children in France in the
future. I do believe that we need to develop more links
with Europe; this project I believe will enable our
staff and children to have a closer understanding of the
French language and way of life. |
